What to Expect at SOAR

At SOAR — Scholars On A Rise, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, build confidence, and SOAR! Our program provides a safe, encouraging, and structured environment where students receive individualized academic support while developing skills that extend beyond the classroom.

 Individualized Academic Support

Students receive one-on-one and small-group tutoring focused on their individual academic needs, including:

• Reading and literacy

• Mathematics

• Homework assistance

• Test and assignment preparation

• Additional grade-appropriate learning activities

 Snacks & Meals

Students are welcomed with a snack or meal before beginning their tutoring session, helping them refuel and prepare to learn.

 Caring & Committed Volunteers

Our students are supported by dedicated volunteers who are committed to encouraging them academically and personally. Volunteers serving directly with our youth complete required screening and background checks.

A Partnership With Families & Schools

SOAR works in partnership with parents, guardians, teachers, and schools to better understand each student’s academic needs and progress. Families are expected to remain engaged and share report cards and progress reports throughout the program.

Learning at SOAR goes beyond homework! Students may participate in:

• Life-skills activities

• Character development

• Educational enrichment

• Creative learning experiences

• Community service opportunities

• Special activities and incentives
